Potala Palace, Jokhang Monastery, Barkhor Street
The tour begins with a visit to the historic Potala Palace, originally constructed in the 7th century by the renowned Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. The present structure was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Over time, it became known as the “Winter Palace,” while the Norbulingka Park served as the summer residence from 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama commissioned its construction. After lunch, you will explore the Jokhang Temple, located in Lhasa’s old quarter. Built by King Songtsen Gampo in the mid-7th century A.D., it is now revered as Tibet’s holiest site, drawing pilgrims from across the region. Finally, you will visit Barkhor Street.

Norbulingka Park, Drepung Monastery
A full day of sightseeing begins with a visit to Drepung Monastery, whose name translates to “hill of rice” in Tibetan due to its resemblance to a large hill of rice. Covering an area of 150,000 square meters and housing 7700 lamas, Drepung Monastery is the largest monastery in Asia. Following this, you will explore Norbulingka Park. Established in 1752 by the 7th Dalai Lama, the park served as the summer residence for successive Dalai Lamas, where they conducted political and religious activities.
Overnight in Lhasa
Yamdrok-tso Lake, Pelkor Chode Monastery
After breakfast, we will drive to Gyantse. Along the way, you will be captivated by the breathtaking Yamdrok-tso Lake, visible from the summit of the Kamba-la pass at an altitude of 4794 meters. Yamdrok is one of the Three Holy Lakes in Tibet, renowned for its dazzling beauty. Upon arrival in Gyantse, we will visit Pelkor Chode Monastery, also known as Kumbum Monastery. Founded in 1418, this monastery is notable for its magnificent Kumbum Chode, a stupa adorned with 10,000 images. Later, we will proceed to Shigatse.
Overnight in Shigatse
Tashilunpo Monastery
In the morning, we will visit the Bachen Lama Set – Tashilunpo Monastery, constructed in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama. We will explore the monastery’s grandeur and learn about its significance. Following this, we will marvel at the spectacular tombs of the Panchen Lamas. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River, following the scenic Nepal friendship road.
